Hello -
Every so often an object arrives that rewards a closer look. This week's featured arrival is an Antique North-West Persian Village Hall Runner, attributed to the Karaja weaving tradition within the wider Heriz district, dating from around 1930–1950.
What first appears to be a beautifully balanced Persian runner gradually reveals far more. Its stepped geometric medallions, softly mellowed coral and indigo palette, original construction and confident village drawing all point towards a long-established weaving tradition from north-west Persia. Rather than simply decorating a space, it reflects generations of practical craftsmanship shaped by regional identity and individual interpretation.
Measuring almost four metres in length, it is equally at home in a period hallway or a contemporary interior. Examples retaining this combination of scale, colour and original character are becoming increasingly difficult to encounter, making discoveries like this especially rewarding.

One of the most rewarding aspects of handling antique objects is discovering that there is often far more to them than first appears. This runner is a good example of that, and I hope you've enjoyed learning a little more about the weaving tradition behind it.
If you'd like to discuss this runner, or any of the other pieces in the collection, or need further details on dimensions, condition or delivery, simply reply to this email and I'll be happy to help.
